Challenge Strategy: Conservative or Aggressive?
Conservative always wins. Aggressive occasionally wins and often fails. The math is clear.
What This Means
An aggressive challenge strategy (2% risk per trade) might hit the profit target in 10 trades — but one bad sequence of 3 losses hits your daily drawdown. A conservative strategy (0.5% per trade) takes 30+ trades to hit the target — but a losing streak of 5 in a row only costs you 2.5%. You stay in the game. You pass.

The Rule
Use 0.5% risk per trade during challenges. Target 1-2 trades per day. Aim to be done in 25-30 trading days.

Do these steps exactly1
Set your challenge risk per trade to 0.5% (not 1%)
2
Calculate: at 0.5% risk with 1:3 RR: profit per winning trade = 1.5%
3
Calculate: trades needed to hit 10% target:
10% ÷ 1.5% per win ≈ 7 winning trades (if you maintain 1:3 RR)
4
Plan: aim for 1 trade per day, 5 days a week = 20 trading days
5
Even with a 50% win rate, you'd need 14 winning trades to reach target
At 1 trade/day, that's achievable in 28 days without stress
Common Mistake
Don't try to hit the profit target in the first week. Prop firms look at consistency. Consistent small gains are more sustainable than one big week.
